The Symbol of America

It's been awhile since I last posted anything on this blog (January in fact, oops). But the History Channel's documentary America: The Story of Us has inspired me to get back to blogging. As I was watching Sunday's episode on The Civil War I wondered what the defining symbol of America looks like. Is it Lady Liberty in New York harbor? The Liberty Bell, ringing freedom over this vast continent? One of D.C.'s landmarks...the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, or the White House? The Bald Eagle? Maybe it's the flag itself?
